More than 70% of the earth’s surface is covered with ocean, yet humans have only begun to scratch the surface to fully understanding its complexity. Almost every aspect of our lives are connected to the sea, from the air we breathe, the food we eat, and even the water we drink are all connected to our oceans.  The oceans dynamically help to balance our atmosphere and buffer changes in climate, but we are witnessing signs of major change. Our security,  economy, and our very survival depend upon the health of our oceans and coastal ecosystems.

Despite this vital role the ocean plays in our daily lives, we are noticing an increasingly large disconnect between people and our blue planet. Heavily scheduled agendas and a majority of our time spent indoors, result in an alarming disconnect with our marine world. We need to dive back into this magnificent realm and learn just how connected we are and ultimately learn how we can become advocates for a healthy ocean.

Healthy Aquatics Marine Institute takes a multidisciplinary approach and encourages learners of all ages to set sail on an adventure to reconnect and learn to appreciate our ocean world. Our unique programs are dedicated to using science, technology, education, and research to promote ocean conservation through hands on learning experiences. We passionately believe that by empowering students with the knowledge to preserve our natural world today, we can ensure future stewards and pioneers of tomorrow.

"For in the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will Love only what we understand.
We will understand only what we have been taught."
