The article posted by the Huffington Post, hit me pretty hard. It's about beach-goers fighting over the right to take a picture with a small shark all the while the shark was suffocating. 

This could only happen in todays society. Of course it's because we never had such mobile technology and means of sharing as we do now with social media but this only brings to light the ignorance and apathy towards fish/shark welfare that has always been there. Clearly this was not a case of inherent fear of sharks but more an uneducated public with a belief that everyone is a rock-star and needs to post about an interaction with biology at the beach with no regard for the animal. I would expect this from toddlers and unsupervised teenagers but not adults. If these people had fish tanks, maybe an aquarium for this kids, I believe there would be a greater respect.
